I wanted to touch base with the membership about hotel rooms at Renaissance World Golf Village for February. Currently the entire hotel is sold out on 2/18 and 2/19 and the rest of the room block is full. I have reached out to a number of people who have multiple reservations under their name/agency to confirm that they are in fact using those rooms in the hopes that there were some rooms that could be released to the rest of the membership. At this time, none have been released. That is not saying that in the coming weeks/months that circumstances wouldn’t change and rooms may come available. That is my hope.

There is no waitlist for this hotel. It has become overwhelming too much to manage. So I am asking that everyone be mindful of those reservations that have already been made and to PLEASE reach out to the membership before releasing any rooms so that they can be reassigned and stay within our FLA-PAC block of rooms. As soon as circumstances change, please reach out.

We could suggest the Holiday Inn St. Augustine World Golf as an overflow hotel, but please be aware that we do not have a contract with them and are not responsible for your reservations there. If you have members of your agency that are coming just for the night (Tuesday and Wednesday especially) maybe consider making a reservation there instead of the Renaissance to free up some rooms for those that are coming all week.

I again want to thank you all for your patience while we navigate these bumps in the road. We are growing by leaps and bounds and in the future we will look at bigger spaces for our conferences, but in the meantime we are bound by multi-year contracts.

Have a great rest of the week and weekend.
    Meghan

We have been using a Lethality Assessment Program since 2009, so we are continuing to use our own form for now. If the Department creates a form for use, we will review and consider modifying or adopting their form as needed.

We have an Office of Professional Standards (OPS) AKA – Internal Affairs. They are responsible for Internal Affairs Investigations that rise to the level of being investigated by IA – plus a number of audits, such as a Vehicle Crash Review Committee, the K-9 Audits and Inventories, the Evidence and Property Inventories, they attend drug destructions, they supervise the Early Warning Invention System, are responsible for Reasonable Suspicion Drug Testing, In-Custody Death Investigations, Officer-Involved Shootings, (Administrative Role – not FDLE Criminal). Our Policy and Accreditation Unit also falls under the Office of Professional Standards.

    Hope this helps!

FWC doesn’t have a specific wildlife unit, our entire agency is responsible for it. If there is something specific that you are looking for like captive wildlife or wildlife law enforcement statutes, or responding to injured/dangerous wildlife, let me know. You can also reach me directly at elizabeth.kamerick@myfwc.com or 850-294-0593.

    Good morning,

We are requesting anyone who may have a policy or guidance for video requests through 911 calls received. Some software like Rapid SOS offers this option but there are many other vendors, and we are asking for any assistance regarding those topics.

    Thanks

Does anyone have an agency release for photos/videos…any media that could be posted really? This would be for public to sign when posting something on social media/website from community events. If you could please share, thank you.

    Happy Halloween,

Since the implementation of TASER’s, I’ve been told some agencies have gone away from the expandable baton. I’ve been asked to learn if agencies are still issuing expandable baton’s to officers and if they are required to carry them on the duty gear.

    Many thanks,

We utilize Barbicide concentrate, which is locked in our Supply area. Each unit that issues clippers has spray bottles that they fill with concentrate and the appropriate dilution of water. The concentrate is inventoried in our Supply area and the spray bottles are inventoried in each unit’s secured clipper box. Items are secured when not in use and and logged on the post log when they are issued to the inmates.
