    Our watch commanders have a list of officers who are willing/able or would like to be called to work additional shifts. They use that list when needed to start calling extra staff. We do not have anything in place to simply call officers in for extra staffing. It is voluntary. Obviously a critical incident would be a different scenario.

    Our City Hall has contracted security. There is a metal detector and an X-ray scanner at the entrance door to City Hall. When there is a Commission meeting, they set up an additional metal detector at the meeting entrance and conduct a bag search.

    Previously we had a Lt who was solely the FTO coordinator. After a restructure, the Training coordinator LT is also the FTO coordinator.

    How many staff are in your homicide unit? 1 Sgt, 7 detectives plus one cold case det.
    • How is your pay structure? Same as police officers, no additional incentive besides their on call time and pay which goes towards pension.
    • Do homicide detectives receive the same compensation as other detectives, or are there pay incentives for homicide detectives? Same
    • Do you allow overtime or comp time for homicide detectives? Yes (both)
    • Do you encourage or allow promotion specifically within the homicide unit? Not really. if there was a promotion and a need for a Homicide Sgt at the time, it could be considered, but unlikely

    I don’t know the specifics, but we are just getting started with RedSpeed Florida. Lt Corey Hale (850-891-4884) is running the project and could give you more details. I know we are supposed to go live and phase in something like 39 school zones.

    They have to log in/out on the computer when they are in service and out of service for patrol. CIB does not clock in/out. They do have to clock in/out when working off duty in the off duty software.

    We will normally do trainings in power DMS with a test on the material added.
