    Good afternoon!

What do your agencies do for Command Staff/sworn office staff for training?

Some of our policies state that “all sworn personnel” or “all members” will receive training for certain topics like infectious disease and active assailant. Typically our trainings are done at shift change times (0500-0600 hours or 1700-1800 hours) when Command staff and office staff are gone.

Do you set up courses in Power DMS with the same power points/training materials or conduct the training separately? Or do your policies state something like “front/first line personnel” for those topics?

    Thank you in advance!

Our agency does the PowerPoint and trainings separately. They’re scheduled for training and their shifts are covered by other deputies.

Good afternoon! We schedule in-service trainings for command staff only for their own date/time, separate from the officers and supervisors. That way they receive all required training and are able to discuss topics on a higher level if needed. Hope this helps!

We will normally do trainings in power DMS with a test on the material added.
