    Good Morning,

The Pinellas Park Police Department is acquiring a single purpose narcotic detection K-9. The K-9 is going to be assigned to a detective/handler in our vice/narcotic unit. Three patrol K-9s are currently assigned to our special operations unit.

I was wondering how agencies’ structure a program with multiple K-9s assigned to different units at an agency. Is there a k-9 supervisor who oversees the administrative procedures (training, maintenance, etc); meanwhile, the unit’s supervisor that the dog is assigned to has direct supervision?

I believe I put out a PAC request like this just prior to the site change. I apologize if you’ve already responded. I appreciate any assistance.

    Thanks,

    Ofc Petrovich

Does anyone have a policy or SOP that mentions impounding of vehicles for street racing? The referenced statute is 316.191.

See attached. Below is our verbiage:

Effective July 1, 2016, FS 943.326 requires that sexual assault evidence kits from a reporting
victim which are received by an agency on or after 7/1/2016 must be submitted by the agency to
the laboratory within 30 days from the date of its receipt or request by individuals identified in
Florida Statute to have them tested (i.e. the victim or victim’s representative). The request can be
made to law enforcement or the medical provider. Once evidence is submitted to the lab, testing
must be completed within 120 days. Kits will be stored in a secure, environmentally safe manner
until the prosecuting agency has approved its destruction.
