ParticipantHello,
We added a training bulletin with the following information:
Transient Occupancy
509.013 & 509.141, Florida StatutesThis statute has been significantly amended with the new law taking effect earlier this month, on July 1, 2025. To easily understand this statute a couple of terms need to be defined.
“Transient public lodging establishment means any unit, group of units, dwelling, building, or group of buildings within a single complex of buildings which is rented to guests… for periods less than 30 consecutive days.” 509.013(4)(a)1.
“Transient Occupancy means occupancy that is temporary. The term includes the occupancy of a dwelling unit at a hotel, motel, vacation rental…unless a written rental or lease agreement expressly states that the dwelling unit is the sole residence of the guest.” 509.013(15)
Notice by the operator to the transient guest: “The operator of any public lodging establishment…shall notify the guest that the establishment no longer desires to entertain the guest and shall request that the guest immediately depart from the establishment.” 509.141((2)
The amended law delineates the following duty of a law enforcement officer when called to one of these transient occupancy situations:
1) If a transient occupancy guest remains on the premises of a transient public lodging establishment;
2) it is the duty of the law enforcement officer, upon request of the operator (of the public lodging establishment) to remove a guest who remains on the premises of such an establishment after a request by the operator to depart. 509.141(4)Misdemeanor of the second degree
“A guest who remains or attempts to remain in any such establishment after a request by the operator to depart…commits a misdemeanor of the second degree.” 509.141(3)

ParticipantHello,
The below information is in our juvenile policy for both B & C bullet 16.04:
The duration of the interrogation will be limited as appropriate to the juvenile’s age and the nature of the offense being investigated. However, the interview/interrogation will not exceed two (2) hours without a break being offered. The number of officers engaged in the interrogation will not exceed two (2) at any given time (CFA 16.04).
I hope this helps. Have a nice week.

ParticipantHere is what we use for Bullet C:
Hazard Warning Lights:
1. The four-way flashers may best be utilized when the police vehicle must be parked to protect fire
scenes (hoses, trucks), injured persons, or other officers directing traffic.
2. In those circumstances where a police vehicle is parked on or off the roadway to protect scenes or
when assisting stranded motorists, the vehicles emergency lights will also be activated to warn other
traffic of a potential danger.I hope this helps. Have a nice day!
