Here is an excerpt from our policy:
XI. CIVILIAN PERSONAL APPEARANCE AND GROOMING STANDARDS:

A. Civilian members who are issued a complete uniform will wear their issued uniform apparel year-round.

B. Civilian members who are not issued a complete uniform will either wear business/professional looking pants or skirts with their issued uniform shirt or will wear professional business attire appropriate to their assigned position.
1. Any questions concerning what constitutes professional business attire will be decided by the Human Resources Administrator.

C. Consolidated Dispatch members will wear professional business attire or the issued Sheriff’s Office polo shirt.
1. Denim material pants are authorized for members whose entire shift will be worked within the Dispatch Center. If they are attending a work function outside the center, members will wear their polo shirt with pants or a skirt, or professional business attire.
2. Athletic shoes are authorized for members whose entire shift will be worked within the Dispatch Center.

D. Female footwear may be of closed, or open toe design. Flip flops are prohibited.
1. Any questions concerning what constitutes appropriate shoes will be decided by the Human Resources Administrator.

E. Male footwear must be of a closed toe design appropriate for the clothing worn.

F. The following are examples of unacceptable attire for male and female members:
1. Clothing made of any type or color of denim material, except as otherwise authorized;
2. Yoga pants;
3. Tights/leggings capris, and stirrup pants;
4. Shorts;
5. Clothing that reveals any part of the abdominal, lower back, or midriff area;
6. Visible body jewelry, except for two (2) pairs of earrings worn by female members;
7. Jewelry should be minimal and not distract from a professional appearance; and
8. Skirts shorter than 2 inches above the knee.

G. Male hairstyles shall not be extending over the ear or collar and evenly trimmed at all times.

H. Mustaches, beards and goatees are authorized and shall be of conventional type, neatly trimmed, and not present a bushy or unkempt appearance. A mustache shall not extend onto or over the upper lip, and not extend beyond or below the corners of the mouth.

I. Female hairstyles shall present a business-like appearance.

J. Issued shirts/uniforms of all civilian/non-sworn members shall clearly distinguish them from sworn members.
