    Lake Mary’s policy states, “Fingernails shall be in a natural state, clean, and trimmed. For sworn officers and Code Enforcement, fingernails may not extend more than ¼ inch from the tip of the finger. Fingernail polish, if worn, shall be clear or natural colored.”

    Good morning,

    Lake Mary PD also appoints Lts at the discretion of the Chief. No written exam is required. However, the following criteria must be met:
    -Must have two or more consecutive years of law enforcement supervisory experience;
    -Must possess a minimum of 60 college credits from an accredited institution;
    -Considerable knowledge of police administration and law enforcement methods;
    -Considerable knowledge of human resource management as it relates to the training, development, and evaluation of police personnel; and
    -The Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy (FBINA) or Southern Police Institute’s Command Officers Development Course (CODC) are preferred. Other advanced senior leadership courses may also be considered.

    Our policy states, “Simply drawing a firearm or other weapon does not require the completion of a Response to Resistance Report. In addition, the use of a Nylon Soft Restraint or RIPP Violent Prisoner Transport Restraint without other physical force does not require the completion of a Response to Resistance Report.” See article IV of the attached document.
