Using LE Certified Town/City Firefighters to work as Reserve Officers

Good Morning! Chief is looking to see if there are other agencies use LE certified firefighters to fill a reserve position (NOT AS A SWAT MEDIC) for patrol functions. We have a few firefighters that have full LE certifications that are valid. We are aware of the OT issues from the labor attorney and that there is no FDLE restrictions within the same entity. We are curious if any agency is doing this and if so any policies? Thank you in advance.
