    Good afternoon,

Does your agency allow the use of police vehicles to “push” disabled vehicles out of the roadway? If so, what training do they go through? Also, if you have a policy that addresses this, it’d be much appreciated.

The small relevant section of our vehicle use policy is”

“Employees operating ACSO vehicles are prohibited from pushing or towing of any kind, unless in the execution of their official duties. Additionally, ACSO vehicles will not be used to push or tow another vehicle unless the vehicle is equipped with an authorized push bumper or such action is required to prevent loss of life or bodily injury.”

The whole policy is attached. Hope this helps!

Our policy states the following: “Officers shall not use Department owned vehicles to push or pull any vehicle from the roadway.”
