Looking for policies for bullet “E” where an outside agency (in our case our Sheriff’s Office) handles your communication function.
Thanks!August 29, 2024 at 8:35 am #19435Katie FriesParticipantGood morning, we attach our most recent Agreement for Dispatching document for that point and add in a simple note that, “SCSO Emergency Communications Center provides dispatch services for the Lake Mary Police Department, and for the purposes of this bullet, directives regarding dispatcher responsibilities would be governed within their general orders.”

Communications Responsibilities [CFA 14.05]
Upon the notification that a pursuit is in progress, the Communications
Center shall:
1) Initiate emergency radio traffic and advise all other units that a
pursuit is in progress, providing all relevant information
2) Immediately notify the watch commander when a pursuit is initiated
3) Receive and record all incoming information on the pursuit and the
pursued vehicle
4) Perform relevant record and motor vehicle checks
5) Control all radio communications during the pursuit
6) Coordinate assistance under the direction of the watch commander
7) Ascertain the availability of aerial and K-9 units and report their
status to the watch commander
8) Notify any affected area agencies of the pursuit
9) Continue to monitor the pursuit until it has been terminatedand then under “Beyond City Limits” we have:
Communications’ Responsibilities [CFA 14.05]
The Communications Center will contact the jurisdiction the pursuit is
entering and advise the jurisdiction of the details of the pursuit, to include:
1) Location
2) Reasonable suspicion that the occupants have committed an act or
offense outlined in this policy
3) Other charges
4) Number of units involved
5) Level of command authorization
6) Type of assistance needed
The Communications Center shall request assistance and relay initial
information to other units and agencies.
The Communications Center shall attempt to patch communications
between Altamonte Springs units and the jurisdiction through which the
pursuit is proceeding. -
