I am looking for policies specifically related to outer carrier vests and what is approved to be carried on the vest. Do agencies restrict or define the maximum number of items carried on the vest?

ParticipantHere is what our policy states:
Guardian Outer Carrier –
Body armor will be worn in the load bearing guardian outer carrier by members in the field and during secondary employment when in uniform. Members may carry the following items on the guardian carrier:
1. Radio
2. Taser (if issued and trained) Holster will be worn on the weak side of the body. (Policy 1.5.5)
3. Pepper spray
4. Flashlight
5. Handcuffs
6. Spare duty magazines (max. 2)
7. Approved medical kit, glove pouch, tourniquet and case or other type pouch as approved by the Chief of Police or designee.
Note: Rifle magazines will not be carried on the guardian carrier.Members will wear the following equipment on the utility belt:
1. Assigned or approved handgun and holster (on the strong side).Members may wear the following items on the utility belt:
1. Radio
2. Baton and case
3. Handcuffs and case
4. Multipurpose tool
5. Spare duty magazines (max. 2)
6. Taser – Holster will be worn on the weak side of the body. (Policy 1.5.5)

ParticipantGood morning! Below is our policy on the outer carrier. Hope it helps!

Sarasota PDIf an officer chooses to wear the outer duty carrier, the below items, issued by the Quartermaster, shall be worn as follows:
A. Badge as approved by Chief of Police on upper left portion
B. Cloth name tag on the upper right portion
C. POLICE ID tag on front and backIf an officer chooses to wear the outer duty carrier, the following items, issued by the Quartermaster or Training Unit, are authorized and optional to attach thereto in lieu of the duty belt:
A. Single/double handcuff case.
B. Nylon radio pouch or clip.
C. Pistol magazine pouches (only after having qualified at an agency training).
D. BolaWrapTM attachment (after certification).
D. TASER in a support side/cross draw only (after certification).
E. Flashlight pouch.
F. OC spray pouch.
G. ASP holder.In addition, the following non-department issued items are authorized and optional to wear on the outer duty carrier:
A. Cell phone pouch or holder (navy blue or black in color).
B. Key holder (navy blue or black in color).
C. Writing instruments.
D. American flag (hook/loop) worn adjacent to nametag (colored/subdued).Under no circumstances will the duty weapon be worn on the outer duty carrier.
Medals and awards, adornments, patches, and any other item not listed above are prohibited.
