    Good morning!
    Does anyone have their own orientation, in addition to the FDOT training, for Crossing Guards? If so, what do you use? Do the guards have any type of First Aid/CPR training?

    Good morning!

    Our School Crossing Guards attend a minimal/condensed orientation. We have the SCGs attend the normal orientation with all new hires, watch three videos (Bloodborne Pathogens, Sexual Harassment, and Autism Awareness), and sign off on three policies (Code of Conduct, Appearance, and Uniform). They do not take a First Aid/CPR course.

    Our HR Division conducts Crossing Guard Orientation only. Below is a copy of our FDOT Training and lesson plan.

    I like those topics for orientation, I think that’s a great idea. What do you use for the Autism Awareness portion?
