We are routinely called to transport probation and parole violators who show up at the local DOC office. DOC writes the violation but calls us for transport to the jail for processing. Do other jurisdictions have an MOU or MAA in place that cover the transport of these individuals, or how do your agencies handle these situations?

I don’t know the specifics, but we are just getting started with RedSpeed Florida. Lt Corey Hale (850-891-4884) is running the project and could give you more details. I know we are supposed to go live and phase in something like 39 school zones.

We are looking for any agency that may currently have someone hired full time with their agency that handles personal training for officers if they request it. For example, an officer is having trouble with the fitness requirement and ask for personal assistance to accomplish this. Or an officer is interested in losing 20 pounds, they can request assistance with training and nutrition from the training. If this is somethin you have, we are interested in any policy, PIQ, and job descriptions for the position.
    Thank you

    Good afternoon everyone,

Event Owl has been back & forth with us on their progress. For Android users, click the link below or search “Event Owl Events” in the Google Play Store & enter the event code “FLAPAC”. For those that haven’t used it before, it is very simple to navigate. I suggest clicking “More” in the bottom right corner and checking out the “Resources” page. Between that & checking into classes under “Agenda”, that should be a big help. Event Owl is in the review process stage for an Android FLA-PAC app. Apple users still have access to the “FLA-PAC” app. You also have the option to use “Event Owl Events” in the Apple iOS Store but I highly suggest sticking with the other.

    Apple iOS Link: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/fla-pac/id1498641880
    Google Play Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.eventowl.demo1

I have been told by one of our members that the “Register Account” button is no longer there for iOS. This has been brought up to Event Owl and should be fixed soon. If you go to register an account and don’t see that button, email me directly (secretary@fla-pac.org). It takes me no time at all to create an account on the backend & send you your credentials. *Don’t be shy First Timers!”

Feel free to find me near the registration desk throughout the conference week if you have any app concerns. Public Relations Director Nick Bliss & I will also be teaching a class Monday & Wednesday afternoon on using the website & apps.

It’s going to be a big turnout. We look forward to seeing you all.

    Good afternoon,

Does any agency have language for Taser Exposures, stating that new officers must show proficiency and exposure is voluntary versus mandatory exposure? We are looking at different options for Taser Exposures.

Hello Wendy:) Below is what our Agency Vehicles policy states:

Vehicles shall be secured and the keys removed when a vehicle is parked and unattended.
    a. Firearms shall be secured consistent with policy 472.0, Firearms.
    b. When the vehicle is not in use off-duty, the following items shall be secured in either the member’s home, vehicle’s trunk, or weapons vault (if equipped):
    (1). Portable Radios.
    (2). MDCs.
    p. Other than K-9 vehicles with a canine inside, unattended vehicles shall be completely secured by having windows up, doors locked, and engine off.

    Hope this is helpful!

    Good Morning,

Do any of your agencies have a directive regarding when it is acceptable or not acceptable to leave an agency vehicle running while unattended? I’m sure K-9 vehicles are covered under the acceptable section, but are there any other instances that are covered?

I am looking for any policies and/or forms related to Pawn Brokers and Secondhand Dealers. In addition to any policies, I am looking for inspection checklists/reports that the detectives can complete and document their activities.
