    Hi Justin! Happy Friday!
So our agency doesn’t use a PowerPoint to do the ethics training if you are referring to CALEA 1.1.2. What we do is, and we do it annually even though the standard is biennially, we put out the agencies Canons of Law Enforcement Ethics on PowerDMS for everyone to sign off on. The standard requires “all personnel” so this way, Sheriff Chronister and the command staff sign off on it as well, and I upload the PowerDMS signature page as a proof every year. We do this every January with other mandatory annual policy reviews, Use of Force, Use of Less Lethal Force, Pursuit Policy, and we are adding Biased-Based Profiling to the mix as well. That way, we have all those standards covered in one sweep for annual policy reviews. Attached is one of our WD and this blip in the commentary is where we got the idea from. Ours is from the International Association of Chiefs of Police.

Commentary: The Canon of Ethics or Law Enforcement Code of Ethics published by the International Association of Chiefs of Police or the Code of Ethics of the Office of the Sheriff adopted by the National Sheriffs’ Association, ICMA Code of Ethics adopted by the International City Managers Association, or APCO Telecommunicator Code of Ethics adopted by the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials International, Inc., will satisfy partial intent of this standard.

Sorry for the long-winded, but that’s how I roll, and I hope it helps a little.

Thanks and have a great day!
