ParticipantGood Morning,
I drew up a proposal some years back, and everyone loved it. HOWEVER, it did not make it to the bargaining table because the officers had a choice of a raise “now” or wait 25 years to get this very important benefit at the end of their career. Well, we have more newer officers than senior ones and they didn’t want to make plans based on whether or not they’d stay for retirement, so the immediate raise won out. Maybe you can use it as a draft for what you’re looking for. See attached (the dependent stipulates “spouse” in parenthesis, but it could be any dependent to include a child or parent you’re caring for). Another thing we looked at is the benefit would stop for both the officer and dependent once they reached the age in which they are eligible for Medicare. Hope it helps.

ParticipantFPPD has 113 full-time, 14 reserve, and 1 auxiliary, totaling 128 sworn members. The Accreditation Manager position has fluctuated between sworn and civilian. I’m a sworn member (Sergeant) currently holding down the position until we hire a civilian for it. The position answers to the Major of Professional Standards.

ParticipantGood Afternoon,
I just went through a mock assessment and was found in compliance with this standard. I used my Agency’s policy and my recruiters’ 40-hour Conducting Background Investigations training certificates.
