    Hello Everyone,

Could anyone share your agency’s policies regarding “time between shifts” or “overtime”? We are looking to evaluate the minimum amount of time required between shifts for our officers. While we understand that there can be exceptions due to unique circumstances, we would appreciate knowing what your agency has in place. Thank you in advance for any assistance you provide.

    Hi,

We recently worked on this policy for this exact reason. Please see page 2:

    C. Members of the department participating in outside employment must have at least 1 day (24 consecutive hours) off during their 84-hour pay cycle.
    D. Members shall limit their combined on-duty and special detail employment, including city overtime, to not more than 16 total hours in a 24-hour period, unless approved by their supervisor.
