My agency is looking for information from other Sheriff’s Offices regarding the use of a Physical Ability Test.
SO’s –
Question 1 – Do you have a physical ability test as part of your hiring process?
Question 2 – Is that same test repeated on an annual basis?Thanks you!
1. Yes, we have a test for hire.
2. Yes, it’s required annually and it’s the same course for the same time.The course description and policy are attached.

1) We do use a PAT during the hiring process for deputy and detention deputy applicants. I have attached the waiver. The PAT information and directions start on page three.
2) The PAT is not repeated for any employee.
Question 1 – Do you have a physical ability test as part of your hiring process? Yes
Question 2 – Is that same test repeated on an annual basis? No1. Yes, all sworn new hires must pass our PAT course.
2. All sworn members must pass it again every SIX MONTHS.
