Our agency is researching other agency policies detailing the retention of internal affairs investigation records in accordance with the Florida’s GS2 schedule and Florida’s statute of limitations, especially in terms of events surrounding the use of deadly force and in custody death investigations (outside of any criminal investigation). If your internal affairs/disciplinary policies cover records retention, please provide a copy. You can email me directly at kbehl@alachuasheriff.org.

    Thank you,

    Hello Capt. Behl:)

I spoke to one of our Internal Affairs Detectives and they stated they go by the GS2 schedule, but it’s not stated specifically in our policy.
    From Date of Discipline – Not Sustained/1YR, Sustained/3YRs, Sustained w/Suspension/5YRs, Terminated/25YRs, all UOF Reports/5YRs.
Memorandum of Findings are sent to HR to be placed in the member’s personnel file indefinitely.

We hope that is of some help.
    God bless
