Good morning, if there any agencies who now have their marked patrol vehicles with the constant “Cruise Lights” on while driving for deterrence, and has added language to their SOP about this, your SOP would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

    Morning,

We just added the following language to our policy from Cruise Lights.

    F. Cruise Mode Lights: Steady burn running lights in authoritative red and blue colors which clearly communicate a law enforcement presence. The purpose of these lights is to conspicuously identify a police vehicle consistent with the department’s mission of providing a feeling of safety and security. Cruise lights will assist in alerting on-coming motorists of the officer’s presence whether stationary and/or roadside scenarios at night. Cruise mode is intended to be used either when the patrol vehicle is in motion, stationary or when an authoritative presence is required.

    1. Cruise Mode is not intended to be used in lieu of flashing emergency lights when a more authoritative emergency presence is required.
