Our jail utilizes the Band-It for high-risk transports and high-profile court cases. It is applied by our Emergency Response Team at our jail prior to transport. I have attached our written directive and associated forms.

I have attached our policy regarding inmate correspondence. We do not allow any physical personal mail at our facility anymore in effort to reduce drug soaked papers and postcards from coming in. Our mailing restrictions at listed in Section B of our attached Standard Operating Procedure. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any other questions.

Here at PBSO we have some refrigeration/freezer units that are maintained by the county facilities division and some that are on a contract for maintenance with an outside vendor.
Our walk-in refrigerator and freezer units are on a chiller system that is maintained by the county, so the maintenance on those is completed by the county. We have several stand-alone refrigeration/freezer units for specific types of evidence that are serviced by a vendor on an annual maintenance contract.
Our vendor for those is a local company called Mr. Ice Machine and we are very pleased with their service:

(772) 220-3942The Florida Corrections Accreditation Commission (FCAC) includes six seats filled by command staff level individuals working in an FCAC accredited correctional facility. There is currently one vacancy in these Commission seats and two more will become vacant later this year. The FCAC’s Nominating Committee is tasked with reviewing resumes and interviewing those interested in filling one of these vacancies. Indian River County does a “mid-day lockdown” from 1130-1230 hours. We do not have a policy pertaining to this but we have a master operations plan that includes this lockdown as well as our visiting hours reflecting this time period.
