Below is an excerpt from our policy for 16.04 (Bullets A, B & C):
1. Parents, legal guardians or an attorney representing a juvenile in custody should be present at any interrogation, if the child has requested their presence. (CFA 16.04A)
2. When practical, a Miranda Rights Waiver form shall be utilized.
3. Juveniles may be interrogated at any Sheriff’s Office facility for no more than six (6) hours unless otherwise approved by a supervisor. (CFA 16.04B)
a. During the interrogation of a juvenile there shall be no more than two (2) members present. (CFA 16.04C)
