Good morning,

Here’s the information provided by our Reserve unit:

– The number of hours required per month or year – The required hours to maintain basic reserve status is 16 hours a month / 32 hours a month (we provide a take home car if one is available)
– Whether they are allotted time to check emails, and how those hours are tracked – The reserve and auxiliary deputies are allotted time for administrative tasks and all hours are tracked via an input system similar to how active deputies enter detail hours.
– If there is a specific requirement for patrol hours, and whether patrol and training hours are counted separately – All hours are counted separately and the only specific requirement is mandated state required training.
– The consequences of not meeting the required hours – PBSO’s reserve unit practices the sheriff’s offices progressive disciple method but all reserves are considered at-will employees and can be terminated at any time.
– Whether repeated failure to meet the required hours results in termination – Yes, repeated failure to complete required hours would usually result in a termination of the employee.
